What is each-way betting When you place an each-way bet, you're actually making two separate bets so your stake will be doubled. You're betting on your selection to win and also for it to be placed. For example, a £10 each-way bet will cost you £20 in total as £10 is on your selection to win and £10 is for it to place. The odds and place terms will always show on the bet slip when placing the bet. How do I place an each-way bet? To place an each-way bet you’ll need to take a selection to the bet slip. If a bet of this type can be made, an 'E/W' tick box will appear. Simply click this to make your desired each-way bet. Remember, your stake will be doubled. Horse racing Unless otherwise stated, horse racing will always settle on the place terms below, based on the number of horses running in the race: Runners Race type Place terms 2-4 All races Winner only 5-7 All races 1/4 of the odds - 1st and 2nd 8+ Non-handicap 1/5 of the odds - 1st, 2nd and 3rd 8-11 Handicap 1/5 of the odds - 1st, 2nd and 3rd 12-15 Handicap 1/4 of the odds - 1st, 2nd and 3rd 16+ Handicap 1/4 of the odds - 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th How much will I win? If your horse finishes first, both your win and place bets will be settled as winners and you will receive the full amount stated on your bet receipt. If your selection doesn’t win but places (place terms differ depending on the number of runners and race type), you will be paid at either 1/4 or 1/5 of the odds (depending again on the number of runners and race type). Example: You place a £10 each-way bet (£20 total stake) at odds of 10/1. There are nine runners so the place terms are 1/5 of the odds with first, second and third places earning a payout. If your horse comes in first, your total return will be £140 made up as follows: Your win bet returns £110 (£100 profit plus £10 stake). Your place bet returns £30 (£20 profit plus £10 stake). If your horse finishes in third place, your total return will be £30 made up as follows: Your win bet returns nothing and you lose your original £10 stake. Your place bet returns £30 (£20 profit plus £10 stake). Other sports and events The terms for each-way bets on other sports will be different depending on the sport, market or competition. The place terms will show once you have gone into the event you wish to bet on. Please keep in mind each-way terms can change through an event’s life cycle.
